About Milked the Sun photo

Michelle (Milked The Sun) is a visual artist from British Columbia, Canada. She creates analog and digital collages.

Growing in a valley encapsulated by surrounding mountains, Michelle developed an intimate relationship with the natural world, seeing it as a reflection of the tides of emotion that crash within. Through collage she translates, deconstructs and philosophises the sacred connection we develop with ourselves, as we venture past the the water’s edge into the depths of our subconscious. What we seek outside must first be planted within; as our hands reach out for greater understanding, this innate bond is always there to illuminate more than the eye can see.

Curiosity pushes Michelle to explore the internal vastness represented by the open oceans and mountain peaks in her collages. These spaces take our breath away long enough to allow the mind’s judgement to dissipate. When we linger with our eyes on the horizon, presence emerges and our hands take over from a place of purity. When we step back to witness the endless cycles of renewal and destruction in the belly of our surroundings, we remember, we surrender.

Michelle sources images from National Geographic magazines to cut and paste into analog collages.
